Be careful if you are using spray foam. When sprayed the chemical reaction makes the foam hot and could distort the kayak. If the outer skin of the foam becomes damaged or cracks it will absorb water and make the kayak unbelievably heavy and in turn hard to paddle. NOT RECOMMENDED. Steve. PS A friend of mine had a 13ft Dory filled with foam and they had to scrap it as it had absorbed so much water it was impossible to move!!!

The perpose made air bladders seem to be a good idea.

your right buddy spray foam will absorb water if damaged, but if you put masking tape over it you can put chopped glass matting over it to seal it. you can get this in a 2part tin, its called fibrefill.

You then have the problem of getting it into the front or back of the hayak. Also the resin gets very hot and you are back to square one with the possible distortion of the kayak. Another thing to think about is every time yo add something to your kayak the heavier it gets and the more difficult it is to load onto the car. Also when you fill the front near the hatches you loose loading/cargo space. If you feel you need a sealed kayak buy one without hatches, a totally sealed unit. Steve
