All, Just a reminder that the deadline for applying to become a member of the new Inland Fisheries and Conservation Authorities in England is 21st April, which is now just over a week a way. It's important that each IFCA has adequate sea angling representation from the start, when the groundwork for the future will be laid down. If you know of any angler that might be willing to serve on the new committees, now is the time to give their arm a strong twist. The new committees will be fundamental to the future health of the marine environment and of our inshore recreational fisheries, and will be guided mostly by those who are accepted onto the committee. If angling representation is not strong, then it will be left to commercial interests to decide how our recreational sea fisheries will be managed in future, and to the environmental representation on the committees what environmental restrictions anglers will be subject to. The committees will also be able to make and enforce new byelaws such as those needed to limit inshore netting and trawling where appropriate, and to increase the minimum landing size of fish to benefit stocks exploited within each district etc. To learn more, and to apply, please visit: www.ifcamembers.co.uk/ Regards, Leon
