This year, I never really got to grips with fishing in the Prowler (not enough time for getting things right), so it was time for a SINK for quick trips in the evening. The first one was the lovely Valley Nordkapp. Its really graceful and very fast, but I found it rather tippy, and not a confidence booster- next year, or indeed soon, I'll be good enough to master it (when I've learned to do confident rolls). Its certainly really good in rougher water (I found this out by accident...). So I bought another one- to add to the ever growing "Kayak Navy", a North Shore Atlantic. Now this is great. Reassuringly not tippy. Nowhere near as fast as the Nordkapp, but it edges easily for fast turns. Not a s nice in rougher water though, or going through boats' wakes at an angle. Heres a couple of pictures of it on a lovely afternoons paddle on the Straits.

that looks a great boat it there 2 bulkheads in the rear or 1 and is it single footrests or a foot board in the cockpit .
the flex is also a great kayak consider changing the seat though if you find it seams a bit wide in the seat area and your sloshing about a bit in it. change the seat to a connect 30 seat it really makes a massive difference in the handling of the flex its like a different kayak with the upgrades seat and makes edging a lot easier.

Nice looking kayak - mind you sea kayaks are some of the most graceful and beautiful craft you can find. I've often seen these things rounding the South and North Stacks on Anglesey - often felt a desire to get one myself but they can be expensive.
Do you find it much different to a conventional canoe from a rolling point of view?

The Atlantic is the most popular composite boat being bought by members of Liverpool Canoe Club in the last 2 years, [ one chap has replaced a Nordkapp with one!] and now there is a polyethylene plastic version available too.

Yes, I agree Mike, I'm getting more and more impressed by the Atlantic, it seems to do everything well- except long term straight line speed, but I'm also after improving my skills! Did 30 km yesterday, but on flat water (except for the wakeboarders, Grrrr). I'll get back into the Nordkapp soon. Just in passing, I found that adding a cm or so of padding to the seat sides improved things darmatically (I'm pretty svelte at 1.88m and 80kg)- before I did this, I didn't realise how much I was missing- like trying to run with your pants around your ankles!

Great pictures and your kayak looks fantastic.
I have just bought a Capella and looking forward to trying it out on the sea.
Have sent you a pm.
