Since getting my Malibu two xl in the sales back in September I have been putting together the equipment that I think I will need. The list so far:-
PFD Dry trousers & Dry Kag Anchor VHF Radio
I am looking for advise on foot ware & flares. Do I need flares? If so where is the best place to get them & something for my feet?
With a bit of luck I will be going out on a sheltered loch some where north of Stirling next weekend only for a paddle and to try out the kayak stability & also getting back in after a capsizes. No fishing. Any tips for a first timer?

Update on my first kayak outing. The wife insisted on coming along as she has a piranha master sit in yak and wanted to see what a sit on top was like.
Over two days we went out on Loch Lubnaig, Loch Achrey and Loch Lomond stopping off at two or three small islands on Loch Lomond. No fishing was done, just paddling and familiarising myself with the yak. I found it very stable and easy to keep a straight line. The weather was cold and there was very little wind and no waves so it was ideal for the first time out. I know that the open sea will be a different kettle of fish and am looking forward to it, hopefully off the Northumberland cost at Easter weather permitting. I will keep you all updated on my progress.
The following weekend was a different story I had persuaded some work colleges to take part in a sponsored white water raft race on the river Tay in perthshire. I was very hard work and very wet but we all had fun and raised over £1600 for charity.
I was going to attach a couple of photos but don't know how to, hopefully one of you guys will let me know how.
cheers

Try visiting any online kayak accessory store dealing in online sporting gears, you would be able to find one easily there.
