When wearing a drysuit is it best to wear something else on your feet to protect the feet of the drysuit ie sandles ,trainers ? Thanks Marc Hi Marc. Yes, wear a pair of sox inside to keep your feet warm and a descent pair of trainers or boots over the top. If you don't wear the trainers or boots you risk injuring your feet as well as damaging the drysuit. If you end up falling off the kayak you never know what is under the water, sharp rocks at sea or rubbish dumped in the lakes, rivers and canals. You never know if you are standing on fishing hooks dropped or dumped on the banking. I have canyoneer boots but there is no need to go so expensive. DONT WEAR WELLIES. If you fall in they will fill with water and even come off making re entry difficult. Steve.

Another thing to think about is protecting the sock as you get in and out of the suit. Some are very easily punctured so it is worth having a square of carpet to stand on by the car.

I have tried a number of different shoes/boots and without question, the Typhoon rock boots have proved to be the best. Look on ebay to find some at the right price.

when you have a drysuit on with latex feet it's a lot easier to get your feet into shoes/boots by slipping some thin sandwich type plastic bags over your feet first!

I wear thick wool socks over the dry suit feet and then trainers larger than my usual size to fit. This protects the dry suit feet from abrasion from sand and mud etc
