I think there is a problem when comments from AA are reposted here, they tend to be a bit malicious to say the least. This forum is very lightly moderated but very friendly and such malicious comments are not helpful.
It was not you personally mate.

There were no malicious comments made. What I had read was from experienced kayak people. Why have a forum where you remove people's posts. There always two sides to a story yes! At lease let people make up there own minds.

I didn't delete it but merely surmising as to the reason.
What you read was from people who have not seen or paddled the kayak so in reality their comments are worthless whereas many of the comments here are from owners.
Which comments would you have most faith in?
I paddle a Jackson Kayak Cuda 14 which those experienced kayakers said was for flat water only! They had never seen it or paddled it. Since then I have paddled it in some quite rough sea conditions and played on a standing wave in a tide race at Oxwich Bay. Many of the other anglers were rightly surprised. Several of the JK team have spent the last 18 months at sea on the Cuda and now those' experienced ' kayakers ave changed their views!
This does not excuse their unfounded criticisms in the early days. They enjoy controversy, if you had been on AA for long you would have realised that not everything you read there is worthy of reposting elsewhere.

i removed it . your post infered that there was something to be warned about with this kayak . as terry has already said the galaxy sturgeon is a superb kayak probably the best value in the uk at this time considering what you get with it as a package . a lot of the critisizm has come from people who have never seen one yet alone paddled one and passing on that poor judgement of a product without seeing one or paddling one could be missleading and not deamed helpfull to anybody.

From reading about the brand I could see they had some big issues before. Perhaps people deserve to talk about what they have read elsewhere. I say no more on the subject I understand how it works on here now.

snaps most brands have had problems at some time or another i could name many of them and the problems they have had but to imply critisism of a product without first hand knowlege of the product is unfair. you have to realise that every product belongs to someone and that someone has to make his living from his products to make a post that may infer a problem with that product could effect someones living to critisize or post a warning about any product specially a critisizm on hear say is not fair to the product or seller of the product.
a typical example of this is in your last post you are infering in your last post that you had read somewhere that the brand had big issues before . remember there are 2 sides to every story . what evidence that the brand had big issues have you seen and can you substansiate the issues first hand.
i have been to the galaxy factory as i have also been to many of the leading kayak makers i have seen first hand what happens in them factorys and the care taken with the products.
people on NWKF deserve to talk about what they know or can substansiate with first hand knowlage not some fabricated story they read on another website with a vested interest in critisizeing any brand or product.
have you seen a galaxy sturgeon ?
anyway i think that closes the conversation

People will decide in the end whether to purchase or not. I guess the amount of sales will be the true indicator.

Sales in the UK are going very well and even better in Europe.

At lease let people make up there own minds. Hi snaps There is a big difference between "experienced kayak people" ( your words) and people with experience regarding the said kayak. You will find a CE approval on the new Galaxy kayaks, you won't find any on other kayaks. If a product is not worthy of a CE approval it doesn't get one. If you get up this neck of the woods we would be more than happy to arrange a test so you can make your own mind up instead of trusting " experienced kayak people" Steve.

Out of interest how does the sturgeon comply with ce directives as there dont appear to be any specific directives under which the product falls or any relevant harmonized eu standards.
The reason i ask is that France has standards that limit a yaks use on the sea to within 400m iirc unless it has passed other tests. Other Eu states have different legislation and in the UK we have bugger all.
It could be a very good idea and make the whole thing safer.
Just spent an hour...if its a kayak and powered by a human its exempt...but attach a motor electric or otherwise or even a sail and its over 2.4m long it is no longer exempt and needs to conform..part if which is a hull number.
Thats going to put the cat amongst the pidgeons.

Good point. Our only restrictions are , if paddle powered you can launch free of charge and without insurance. (At sea) If powered you need to pay a launching fee and produce insurance at most launching sites. Steve
