That'd be great! My son would be keen too, although he has limited days off work. I'm self employed and so pretty free. I've been scouring the forums and websites, I guess I'm the most knowledgeable kayak angler never to have been on a kayak :-) Having said that, the more you know, the more you know you don't know!

Hi Martin. Wait for a calmer weekend and we will arrange an afternoon. We used to be BCU registered but let it lapse purely because of the lack of interest. If you come out with us we will show you the basics and a bit of safety training. Steve.

I'll look forward to that :-) I'm presuming you mean a paddle and not a fishing trip......although I have all the gear now, even an anchor system Just short of a radio, but that can wait until I start doing trips that could require it....... I'm guessing I'm not the only one on here who needs their hand holding for a first trip out...... Thank you

Hi Martin. We will be having a paddle on the canal. Sheltered water, safety first. Before anyone fishes they should be confident with the basics. Learn to paddle first. Some safety practice and then fishing. (With a fishing buddy) Learning is fun but to clutter a kayak up without knowing what you are doing is a disaster waiting to happen. Steve

Highly recommend paddling with Zeb and Buddy. You will learn a lot and have some fun. Just don't expect Zeb to get wet when there is any self-rescue training. Terry

Zeb.......wet........wash your mouth out Terry.
As someone who did the course along with Terry, I can confirm you will get a lot out of a day with the boys. If there is only you and your son, you will find there is a better chance to get your paddle technique far better than hours of practice on your own or in a big group.
