Morning all, new to site and Kayaking. Does anybody know where I can get a paddle float as a precaution, any advise on flares and where to buy them from locally? (Llyn peninsula) Thank you

There are a few ways to make retry easier. A dry bag with water in it will counter balance as good as a paddle float. A stirrup ( length of rope tied to the Yak with a loop tied on the bottom with a price of hose pipe threaded on it). Plenty of places sell paddle floats on the internet. Practice a few times on freshwater to make sure you can get back on. It's a bit harder on the sea with the tidal race and waves.

Eddie, You should be able to pick up flares at any chandlers mate. Really envious of you being on The Peninsular. Haven't been back for a few years but I used to be a regular to Aberdaron. Keep an eye out for Deerphil he fishes the area a lot. Really nice guy and a great kayak angler. Terry

(Llyn peninsula) Thank you Where abouts on the Llyn are you mate? I'm up there on occasion as we have a holiday cottage in Beddgelert. You been out much recently? I've not found anywhere selling an abundance of yak stuff, so I've resorted to mail order, although i don't think you can get flares through the post - royal mail gets a bit antsy about things that can blow their postmen up!
