Hi Guys, What an interesting post, I've enjoyed it and learned a bit too. If I may ad (without anyone thinking I'm a miseryguts lol) if simon was refering to a channel marking bouy then I belive it is illegal to tie up to these bouys, if I'm wrong please correct me, I'm always willing to learn. I think Simon meant mooring buoys in estuaries but I might be wrong. As for an anchor pulling you under, this can happen but only if you have a short line so best thing to do is put out a long anchor line and always leaving your yak from the 'front or back' and never from the middle.

After numerous cups of tea, dad and i decided that an anchor trolley was not required on our tarpon 130T. It's tandem, so who-ever is up at the front can do the business. We ended up attaching the cleat about 1m form the prow, seemed to work fine in the calm conditions today, we were facing about 10 degrees from the negligable wind direction, even when the Dee River tide started ripping. It's woth knowing that anchor trolleys are irrelevant in tandems (we didn't until we thought about it!)....

Getting it off the car is a work of art but can be done with a bit of practice. As for using it as i one manner it's a very versatile user freindly kayak.
