Yesterday I launched from Trearddur Bay and paddled round to Porthdafarch and back, and it was really good, except for jetski's, who seemed to be trying to cut me up deliberately, everywhere I went! As I paddled back to T.Bay, one headed for me on collision course, so I had to stop paddling, he passed just in front of me, then turned and passed behind me. Besides the noise, and the water disturbance, they foul the air with their exhausts. I feel like fitting a speargun.

trearddur is known for boats, jet skis, snorkelers, divers, why launch there, you may as well launch along side the colwyn bay pier or portmadoc, there should be enough room for all of us but power wins over paddle cant stop them so avoid launching at the major jet ski launching venues. i am not in favour of such behaviour and have been buzzed myself but moaning ist gonna stop it,there is no answer only to kill every jet ski owner?

T.Bay looked so nice in the sun, I really wanted to explore around there in the yak, the rocks and sea caves were fantastic at low tide, first thing in the morning would be best!

Sorry to hear about your troubles - we had a similar incident last year - paddling out trolling lures and a boat that was also trolling ALTERED COURSE AND MADE A COLLISION COURSE DIRECTLY FOR US. I was out with my son George, 15 at the time, we altered course to STBD away from the approaching vessel - even though we had right of way as we could see his green light. He altered course directly for us and so we gave way again - the result was he rode over the stern of georges kayak, cutting his line and no more than a few feet from his actual body. As he dd so, LAUGHING, he shouted "you English sons of people who aren't married, you shouldn't be here catching our fish......" I immediately reported the incident to the Coastguard, giving the make, model and name of boat, description as to colour, engine make and size, description of the people on board (2 of them). They sent out a shore patrol who spotted him through their binos - they also called the police to the shore. We went in, gave our statements. That guy is no longer permitted to use any council slipway or boating amenity in Gwynndd - he was also prosecuted for threatening behaviour. I will not stand for dangerous manoevers - those jet skiers are simply ignorant. They think they are having a laugh. Stand your ground with a jetski and as they come in keep paddling on your course. They will spray you but they won't risk a collision. It is getting to the stage where they require a certificate of competence before they can launch - that certificate can, and will be, revoked for dangerous acts. They can also be prosecuted. The N. wales authorities are acting very forcibly - they have had an influx from Windermere and are nipping the problem in the bud before it gets out of hand.

dorado i would have taken exactly the same action if someone had come close to hitting my son, that sort of thing needs to be very aggresivly deterred. actually it might have been me arrested if i was ashore when he came back to land. That sort of behaviour is disgraceful.

Not as dangerous but just as annoying I lost a set of tackle to a jet skier not long ago who was to close to the beach, not only for fishermen but swimmers as well.

Sorry to hear of your problems with the jet skier. I'm no fan myself, but Trearddur Bay is my local beach and I do most of my kayak fishing from there. As yet I have had no direct problems with jet skis. They are more active in the area between Trearddur Bay beach and Porth Dafarch, than the other way, towards Rhoscolyn. Also, Plas Menai and Plas-y-Brenin outdoor centres regularly launch their canoe/kayaks from here. There is a council jet ski patrol operating from this beach, although I haven't seen him yet this season. If the forecast holds I should be out from Trearddur Bay on Saturday - so here's hoping for a quiet trip.
