While hunting about on the web for info on what I think is an easly accessable reef at Pen - y - Cain (Pwllheli Butlins) I came accross this web site. Diving from Kayaks. That looks like fun as well. This particular page is about Aberdaron to Hell's mouth and though not particularly fishing relavent makes a good little read - especially their mutual dislike of jet ski's. I am sure there is a lot of good info we can get off divers and dive books about wrecks and reefs. I found out about the reef from the book mentioned (recommended on the NWSA site, boat section). If you look at this site, what do you reckon their mystery fish is ? greater weaver perhaps ? Sarge www.goatchurch.org.uk/ctrips/lleyn/lleyn.html

I think buying a wet suit, snorkel, mask and flippers are the next step in kayak fishing. Now Ive got mobility on the water I'm now curious as to what is beneath eg features, fish, mammals. Watch this space its going to happen i can see it.

Hi all. The mystery fish is a Dragonet. They are completely harmless. They look a bit drab until you pull up the dorsal fin which is bright blue on the males. They are a "mini-species" that grow to about 9" and do occasionally get caught on rod and line but are quite common in trawls. Stitch, here's a couple of links you may find interesting www.sit-on-topkayaking.com/Articles/FishDive/Dive.htmwww.kayakdiver.comalso the site sarge mentions has other articles including kayak diving around anglesey.

good post sarge.
I think this is area of kayak fishing and just general enjoyment is going to be major in the future- i reckon stitch has got it dead right. Perhaps we should start looking for gear to try out and review and start hearing from those with some experience about techniques etc the do's and don'ts.
