Until i found this site two weeks ago, i didnt know these kayaks existed. I will be out in the water off Ayrshire by end of Feb. So i am looking for some advice on how many of my favourate things i need to sell please. Ive read everything on this site, so its the Big Game ( im 6` 16st ), was thinking Nordkapp paddle ? length ? Dont know ( amongst other things ) what part the tide plays in you guys going out and back and i will apologise just now, for being a pest over the next few weeks. thanks for any help.

Welcome to our forum Stargaizer, The 'Big Game' seams the right yak for a little fella like you ;D . As for the paddle I would go for a 2200mm one, any smaller will be very uncomfortable for someone of your size. As for being a pest, don't worry, we are all the same. We have some very knowledgeable members who are more than willing to answer your questions.
Cheers
Tim
PS One question for you, how did you find us? i.e was it a link from another site? and if so, which one?

welcome! Learn to paddle first and get safe before venturing out to sea. It helps to be aware of the tides, and beware of offshore winds!

hi Stephen come along to one of our meets theirs plenty of us guys with big games that would let you have a paddle as for the paddle stand upright put the paddle upright as well you should just be able to curl your fingers around the top of the blade just the top of your fingers if you can get any more than just the top of your fingers then the paddle is to short if you cant curl your fingers over the top its to long this is just a rough Gide but as Tim says the big game is a wide kayak so you have to remember that the paddle will need to be a little longer than usually to get the most out of it. i have a big game and found that a 220cm paddle was to short i now have a 230cm which i have yet to try but it does feel better. the lendle Nordkapp is a very good paddle choice it gives a lot of power to the stroke but the best way for you to tell is to come along and try out a big game and a paddle .the new dates for the monthly meets will be on the forum in a couple of days hatter has them now and it would be great to see you where are you based ? . as for pestering us with questions ask away the guys on here are all to pleased to help each other we were all at your stage at one time we would welcome your questions ask away don't be worried we are all happy to help . we can launch and retrieve at any state of the tide but it is a little easier if your going for a long paddle if you are with the tide

Slight change of plans. My telly went on fire last week,. First thing that entered my head was my boat. So now looking like middle of March till on the water. Never mind, ive resigned to that and at least im sleeping. Have just looked at the new videos and Zebra paddling my new boat, looks the business. Looks like so little effort and quite fast. Might not be catching as much zzzzz's as i thought right enough. Seem to know what i want regards all gear, so not many questions there. Good reply about the paddle. Have now started to think about modifications to the boat ( and you can breath out, i'm not drilling anything ). Thinking of designing a stern tank cover with a half hatch that will double up as an across the width of boat, seat. Don't now if Tim'O will read this , but daft reply to your question about where i found your site. Brookbank Scotland.

Good to hear that you're plans are still going ahead stargaizer - search around for info on the big-game before purchase just to make sure its the boat for you- better still try and find a group locally with a member who may have one- they will surely let you have a go. Depending on where you intend to use it i reckon it is crucial to try the boat out first. As for TimO- he will be well pleased to recieve your answer

Sorry Stargaizer for the late reply, but yes I have eventually read this. The reason I asked was we are a new forum,(not on Google, Yet!) which has some very loyal and keen members and it is always very special when we have new members from such a wonderful (brilliant if fact) parts of the world that you live in. (Scotland) It would be fantastic if you could make it across to Wales to fish with us some day, You know there is always a BIG Welcome.
Cheers
Tim
PS If you do come across, I hope you like 'Pepper soup' as it's Georges specialty ;D ;D
