put it down to fishermans impatience. Another learning curve but one I never learn no matter how many times I do it. "TAKE YOUR TIME" i was always told as a kid hmmm well one day It will be something more important than just material possesions.

Steve, I turned up at Llanddulas at about 1.30. I saw some Yaks quite a way out and a couple closer in towards Pensarn. Luckily there was a guy in the car park who helped me get my yak off the car and carry it down to the sea. It wasn't helped by the fact there was a barrier across the jetty.
I had a problem launching, due to boulders just below the surface. I managed to push my way past them, but found out later I'd put some nasty deep scratches in the hull of the Yak. Another lesson learned:- wade right out until well clear of barnacle covered stones.
When I got out there the Yakers weren't anybody I knew. So I drowned a few lug for a couple of hours and came back in. No fish, but I caught the sun. The new larger anchor worked. In fact it worked so well, the bl**dy thing was stuck solid. But I paddled around it and pulled from the other way. In the end the tie wrap snapped, as its designed to do and I manged to pull it out the way it went in.
I need to have a look at the rigs people are using for their end tackle before I go out again. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, as the nearest guy to me (about 50 yards away) had a few fish. Mainly dogs I think.
Still it was a nice couple of hours just sitting back relaxing on the ogin. Roll on the next time. John

Hi John
We did go, but a bit later then planned. We met up at 230pm at the tackle shop on Colwyn pier. I wish we had known you were coming down,we could have kept you fully informed. In the end we went to the other end of Llandulas, by the caravan park, its a lot less hassle to launch there, no big rocks, and only a short level walk to the beach. When we got out about 1/2 a mile Popeye and me, we bumped into spud. Mark (Popeye) was happy drift fishing. while I anchored up. I had 2 starry smoothounds about 6/7Lbs on crab, from Vic pier, and 4 dog fish, 1 of which was a big fish for the species. Today was the first smooth day out since mark and I have had yaks, Very nice afternoon.
Happy yakking
Steve aka seajunky

Went to llandulas, was late due to roadworks on Runcorn Bridge , seen 6 or 7 yaks out to the right hand side but as mentioned there was a barrier across the slip and there was no way i could carry the X across those rocks. Went down to Rhos and launched from the harbour. Didn't go very far but got plenty of mackeral including 3 on first drop to christen the boat ;D ;D. Looking forward to loads more trips!!!

What a great birthday. Fancy a repeat performance next Sunday? If so, we'll start a new thread towards the end of the week. I can't make the Saturday.
Ian.
