Has anyone fitted a Garmin 160c to a Big Game, or any other Yak come to that?
I can't see how the transducer can possibly be fitted to the Yak.
Also the plugs on the cables which connect to the display and tranducer are large. I can't see how they will feed through the Yak tidily. I doubt I'll be able to find a grommet or cable seal that will allow the plugs to fit through.
Plus there are a load of spare cables which are to connect to an optional NMEA device (whatever the hell on of those is). I'm going to have to find a way to terminate these in a way which will prevent water shorting the cables out and buggering the unit. But that's the least of my problems. The fitting on the back of the transducer just doesn't seem to lend itself to mounting it to a Yak.
Any advice would be most welcome. cheers John

Hi Johnh,Hatter3 , I was out with jimdog on sunday at LLandudno Nth Shore Jim has a Hummingbird F/F and has fitted the sender in a tube which fits through the scupper hole,if the sensor for the Garmin is too big to drop down into the hole,it could be fitted in through from the underside and locked into possition if it was aslo fitted into the right size tube....hope this helps i've yet to get mine, next on the list....regards Dave

It's probably just me guys. Despite the photos, I still can't see how I can fit it neatly into the scupper hole. Does the tranducer have to be flush with the hull, or does it have to stand proud. Or, can it be recessed. If it stands proud of the hull; isn't there the danger that it will get damaged when the yak's hull is resting on the floor or worse still dragging across stones covered in barnacles?
I'm tempted to simply mount it on a hinged bracket fastened to the four screws at the stern which are for mounting a rudder; and simply run the cable loose along the top of the yak. Not ideal, but as I say I have no idea what the rules are about siting the transducer and can't see how it can be housed in a scupper hole. John

check your pms john i have sent you some more pictures of the fitting
dont fit it to the back their is to much water noise when the kayak is moving and you wont get a clear signal . it does not fit flush its slightly recessed.
