Just experimenting with braid for plugging and wondered if any one could suggest a suitable knot for securely joining the nylon to the braid ?.
Cheers

Couldn't decide that one myself so I put a loop on the end of the braid then I either knot or loop to loop to it.

Personally I tend to avoid knoting braid directly to mono. Where possible and practicle I add a swivel between. This way you can use your favourite knots without the worry of the braid cutting into the mono/fluoro. I did experiment with a load of recommended knots but still wasn't near the sort of strength I was getting when incorporating the swivel with strong knots. Chris

Ah just noticed you mention the loops going through the rings. I take it you are using quite a lengthy snood stoaty?

Thanks Thursoman, That does make sense. What length of nylon would you use for the leader.

Depends on the rod I'm using but generally never use anything less than a 4ft leader. If you make your mono b/s less than the braid then if you do get badly snagged etc at least you only have to change the mono side and tie a simple knot to your swivel and not mess about with anything more fiddly with braid. Remember if you are using expensive plugs use the weak link trick for your trebles. Will save you a lot of cash. Not that I'm a tight Scot or anything. ;D ;D ;D No comment Mr K!

SORRY - BEEN BUSY ;D Not had a problem with rings - leader's been short enough to remain outside of them, but 30lb braid and 20lb mono don't look as if they'd present a problem. The swivel sounds good though - even better if it's one of those with a clip at one end for a quick change of leader maybe

Hi Empee just a word of caution with braid and clips. I've found certain clips can have the tendence to trap braid in them and nicking them. American snap links for example. Changed to the simple gemini clips and never had a problem since.
