Thanks for info, want to try a couple of different types and LB. Used the Power pro and am experimenting with Tuf line duracast [American stuff]. Sent off for some Varivas super PE braid to try. Like what i have tried so far and not ended up in any disastrous tangles as yet Cheers

Will be interested to hear your findings stoaty. I personally use Berkley whiplash pro and really like it for jigging and trolling but tend to use 30lb braid for spinning as it's so thin and limp. Tried 20lbs and was a pure nightmare with tangles. Coated braids help with that side of things but heard they eventually perish. Let us know how you get on mate.

Fireline is quite a thick braid. I started on that though I soon swapped over to a combination of power pro and spider wire which are much finer. If you intended to swap to braid I'd go for either of the latter two.

I would say it depends on the type/weight/size of lure your using. My braids range from 20lb powerpro for UL stuff right upto 140lb stren superbraid for large jerkbaits. Being used to bank fishing I always tend to edge to the heavier braids but now Iv got my yak i might have to look at the lighter stuff for safety reasons.

Interesting !, due to braid being that much more expensive its not some thing you want to guess at. Thanks for the feed back.

Hi stoaty, thought i'd drop you a line .... just bought 3 spools of varivas super pe in green. im a first timer using braid & found this stuff great. It is important that you don't overfill the spool when loading it. This enables the line to flow nicely off the reel, reducing tangles. enjoy.

Hello jeffish, got some of the PE braid and it does seem to cast well with out any problems. All i need now is some thing fish shaped fighting on the other end ;D
