First full day here and forecast was for a sunny still day so Loch Lomond was our destination launching from near Luss. Quack Quack Oops!...No room at launch so back down the loch to Arden.
Launch point was perfect but the island destination was different. Now it was to be Inchmurrin and the distance increased dramatically, much to the wife's concern.
we clocked up 2.5 miles from launch to first stop for lunch.
The island looked wonderful with lots of great haul out points.
She's hiding...
Oh there she is lol
We then paddled round and found this lovely spit . Amix of gravel sand, fens and grass. This is an obvious camp site for those interested.
More pics to come....
We then paddled further round before crossing back to the shore just south of Luss.
We continues south into all the nooks and crannies and even half a mile or so up a river.
It was a long day for Steph although she did well we were on the water in total for 5 1/2 hors exploring in glorious weather and clocked up 10.5 miles. I was proud of her as paddling over 70ft of water whilst being 1 mile from safety is nerve wracking for a woman who finds me cycling to work scarey, lol
Loch Lomond??? WOW!!! We love it you lucky Scots ...we are jealous.
Well day two dawned overcast and a bit windier.
Our plan was still to tray and get out to the islands of Inchtavannach, Inchconnachan, Inchmoan from the layby at Aldochlay, just south of Luss.
Sadly when we got the layby was full again.
So my thoughts changed to sea lochs and I persuaded Steph that we should have a look before she said no. So over the next couple of hours I showed her Loch Long and Loch Fyne. Unfortumately the tide was only half way in and they were showing their weedy shores. That along with the lack of islands meant they came out way behind Lomond. She has been spoiled.
So onto Inverary for a couple of hours to help Steph sate her shopping 'fix'.
I suggested thet we should check the layby on the way back despite the forecast of rain early evening.
Bingo 4pm and there was a space right next to the slip. Although the wind seemed to have picked up we decided we could not miss the chance. The islands looked to be creating a lot of shelter.
We visited all three islands but forgot to have a look at the 'Boy in the water', you will know what I mean if you go there.
The islands and their tress are wonderful and Steph just keeps the shutter clicking. Thank God for digital and not having to get them all developed!!!
Camping definitely looks to be a popular activity on most islands and you could not wish for a more spectacular location and I think my grandson would see this as a great adventure.
Well here comes the next batch, not as beautiful as there is no sunshine but moody instead.
'Who ate all the pies?'
