Hi Steve. Good idea but the only drawback is that you pay a launching fee for powered craft and this unfortunatly comes under that class. Like you say its a fishing platform not a performance/keep fit kayak. Look forward to the reports. Steve

Hi every one, only found this site a couple of days ago while researchings Kayaks, Many of the threads answered my many worries about kayaking. So to cut a long story down i went out and bought an Ocean Ultra 4.7. The last couple of days i have been outfitting it with the anchor trolley, extra Tie eyes, and other bits and bobs. I also went to our local kayaking club on the boating pool to find out if i could use the pool for some practice. They said it was fine but (yes a BUT) you must use some of the other kayaks as well, i told them what i had bought ( lots of mysified faces), yes but need to use the other kayaks they said, I told them i want to get used to mine, i do not want to take up kayaking as a hobby or sport but as an aid to my fishing. Still use ours, All the yaks they have are flat bottomed and sit in's.I think they will be in for a shock tomorrow..
So Just to let you know i now have a kayak, i would like to meet other kayakers who fish, there does not seem to be any one in my area (Fylde Coast {Blackpool}). So If anyone out there knows someone around this area please let me know. Much appriaciated.
On some of the angling forems i am known as Pipesmoker (think i will change it to same here.
Catch Some one later

Hi there pipesmoker,my mate and myself will be buying our first yaks in the next few weeks.we have chosen the prowler 13 trident. We both live in Fleetwood and have done a lot of sailing over the last 30 years in a number of types of boats but the idea of kayak fishing appeals to us.We will be fishing of the fylde coast and also from Filey and flamborough on the east coast. We would like to meet others and learn the ins and outs of kayak fishing ,so as soon as we get our kayaks perhaps we could all meet up for a chat and get some advice from you as to rigging etc.Look forward to meeting you soon ,Steve and Tom

Hi. My name is bodger. I was directed here from another forum just a few moments ago. I've lived on the Lleyn Peninsula for 21 years and bought my very first sea fishing kayak just last weekend, so I'm going to need a lot of help and advice. This forum should be a god send for me. For better or worse, my first purchase was a Mocken 10. I can't wait to get out on the water but am well aware that I need to be prepared.

For my husband's 40th birthday = looking for reasonably priced kayak for fly fishing - most likely to be used for sea fishing off Devon/Dorset coast, occasional reservoirs. Unlikely to go out and about huge distances. User is slim build. I imagine that he would like to be able to stand up sometimes to cast in appropriate conditions. Also anything like an anchor/drag (make sense?)
Recommendations, please by 21st September 2010. No advice too basic - won't be offended!

hi. bit late listing but had a bit of trouble listing, had the torque out a few times now, scotland 3 times and just had two weeks in north devon, weather was foul so fished mostly off the pier at ilfracombe, but this is a quick report on the torque, downside is takes a fair while to set up,rudder and fishfinder etc,but it is well worth it,it does ride a bit low but that is to be expected, what with the battery and motor, this kayak was on the gadget show a few weeks ago and they said it was slower than another bolt on motor, but they are not fishermen and speed is not an issue, but five and a half mph is repectable,it holds against any tide flow or wind i have been in handsfree, and on a couple of occasions has got me out of trouble,it is very quick to turn into a big wave or bow wave off the odd idiot motor boat, and it has moved me quickly back to safety when the weather has turned. burning question is how long does it last on a charge,i have had it out 5 hours plus, and my bum has gone numb before the battery has given out, anyone who has used a trolling motor before will tell you depends on wind and tide conditions. used without the motor it is excellent, tracks really well, and is just a standard trident. I always have a paddle to hand, and also a spare in case that breaks,i did get tipped out last week but managed to right it and get back in no trouble, and i get my bus pass next month,so not a spring chicken. weather and fishing was a bit rubbish down devon, but i had a very large sunfish for company when i did get out,and although nothing big i saw trigger fish come off the pier at ilfracombe and had a great time with the gar on a float and light rod, also picked up bream and plaice and a few other odd ball fish, please note i am a rubbish sea angler, and cannot cast to save my life but that is why i bought a yak. my next outing will be to my favourite place port logan and luce bay,in the next week or two,got a vw camper so just take off when i like

my trident 11 has been tried and tested with it converted 55lb elec motor - works a dream I motored up stream tonight with quite a current against it in no time to reach where i wanted to turn around and troll back down on the way down it was on speed 3 and going at quite a pace with the current - i was motionless and totally still and quite just watching the end of my rod quiver with the lure in the water - perfect, tranquil and great fishing
