You may have already seen a couple of post on Scotland but I thought I should use up the last frw pics.
Wednesday was very windy and gloomy. We had had 40mm of rain overnight and there was a lot of standing water on the roads. A drive to one or two 'water features ' was called for.
The following are of the Falls of Dochart and the Falls of Falloch.
As we parked up by the white water at Dochart a lovely frail old lady tugged on my sleeve:
" Oh please don't" She said with a worried expression on her face.
" I'm sorry" I said , puzzled.
" Please don't go on the water ....on THOSE!!!!" She pointed at the yaks on the car roof.
I had to reassure here we were ther to take pictures not to take the yaks out. Aaah she was really nice and truly concerned for us.
The landscape comes alive after rainfall.
Our last full day on the water yielded more fun for Steph with the camera on Lomond.
A visit to Luss for a coffee and ice cream.
It was great arriving by yak. We attracted a lot of attention from the foreign tourists and photo's of us will be crossing the globe lol.
All in all we had a fantastic week. We have only scraped the surface. We have seen islands and mountains, lochs and waterfall, wallabies and white stags. Steph has paddled about 30 miles in 3 trips just a couple of months after saying that she was not going o solo kayak. She is chomping at the bit to get out again.
We highly recommend Loch Lomond as a great paddle. If you are into wild camping get there quick. Due to the actions of a minority camping will almost crtainly be banned on the islands from next April.
It's a long trip but Scotland will repay your efforts.
Steph asked me to pose for one last picture with a forest in the background. She said it was a particularly appropriate backdrop!!!!
