you all might think iam MAD !!! about 20 years ago i was watching geo channel about sharks ,they had a dead shark tied to a rock underwater, all the sharks would swim around it but not eat it ,then they had a recording of the distress sound that a fish makes when injured ,this sounds like a rumbling sound bit like what a spinner makes ,this was inside the shark ,when it was turned on, the sharks went mad and ripped it to bits and ate it, here gets the good part!! the old saying is dont have a radio playing on the bank or boat as the sound travels down the line and will scare away the fish !!yes just like the TV add with des o conner playing and the fish jumps out i then thought if i was to get a copy of the rubbling sound ,i could then get a walkman / ipod and put the headphones on the line next to the reel ,and the sound would travel down the line to the bait and would attract the fish, i have never tried it , what do you think go on say it iam going mad

The rumbling sound will not only go down the line but also through your hull......just don't try this in SA, Aus or anywhere else that large sharks roam as they will think its you on the menu ;D So these are the schemes you hatch in Thurso on these cold, long, dark nights.....we're arl dooooomed, I tell ye, arl dooooomed

Hi pitched whistles work for eels and as sound is just vibration at the right frequency it's not that stupid an idea, another stupid idea that works is moon phase even on rivers .....www.moon strike .co.uk.......... Having said that it would be easy to scare fish and very hard to replicate a sound to attract fish

i was going to email geographic channel to see if i could get a copy of the sounds, like gerryw said it might be a problem on a yak as it would sound though it and if someone was in reach of sharks this would be a bit scary, when i thought of the idea i was into pike fishing from the river bank
