great post there Raz- good info on this especially for new entrants. Brookbanks (Manchester) is a good shop and they know their stuff - most of us have had to shop there in the past and should still do so in the future - its just a bit of a hike. I originally had my boat from there and my daughters boat as well and all of my kayak gear and so have a few others because such a range was essentially unavailable in the past where we live- but things are changing- however there is no where that i know of within that kind of reach that can beat Brookbanks for choice. Looks like a great selection of kit and it will all serve you well no doubt and make you feel more confident in the boat -(your gonabee a well dressed guy on sunday) - i dont know if forum rules prevent HOODIES - you will really appreciate that kit in the winter- a timely purchase mate. The boots you bought i hope will do the job for you the problem i have found with these types of boots is the closing mechanism- this pull up closure often pulls the cords out of the boot which are then almost impossible to get back in- i dont want this to put folks off -we have to start somewhere- i have had 2 pairs of such boots and in the end had to get those with a zipped closure which have so far lasted OK. You might want to get some cheap sandals to go under them - to get over the real rough rocky stuff.

Nice bit of kit there mate, spent a few quid, well worth it though. i like that red smock but what does the piece of pipe do thats stuck to the left sleeve? not seen one of those before ;D ;D Brookbanks is a good shop, like a little Aladdin's cave! and its a shame its a good hike, i will sometimes pop in on my way back from work, otherwise i wonder if its worth taking a trip over from here to buy kit, I'm tight you see, i think of what it costs me in fuel to get there, stick that on top of what your buying and it doesn't work out that cheap. A top shop a bit closer to home, as you will know rich is surf lines in Llanberis, they have a good selection of kit there, and they give a small discount, they gave me one anyway when i got my dry kit, its well worth a visit some time

Just been surfing the net for a full dry suit for the winter and have found a crewsaver including a free under under suit for £265.00. One question is it better to have latex seals or neoprean? you have the option with this suit.
Cheers
Tim
