Crossing fingers I hope to get out with a fly rod off my kayak in the very near future. It's one reason why I bought the kayak in the first place and I've slowly building towards this method of fishing. I've tied some Bass flies hoping to suggest some basic bait fish. They're all based around whitebait (all silver), sand eels and very small mackeral. Well I hope so anyway. I'd appreciate peoples thoughts and suggestions please as I'm on a pretty steep learning curve.

Nice flies. Dont be afraid to try some bigger flies. Bass will take large sand eels quite freely. When the bigger bass are around Dorado uses flies over 6" long. If you think of a Rapala J13 as being a favorite bass plug and will take a 2lb bass a few longer flies could be quite a valuable addition. Steve

All good. However, if you are going to use weighted eyes then tie them on the top of the hook as this then makes the fly swim 'upside down' with the benefit of the hook point facing upwards resulting in less snags. Have a google for Lefty Krey and/or Joe Branham regarding clousers, deceivers, etc.
