Providing they are connected by a rope to mom or dad, the kids will have great fun with them and again they are treated with great care, playing around in slack water close in, they will be fine but beyond that !!!

I think they are a great 'toy' and when used correctly they are ok. Limitations? Fill with water and use as a foot spa, use in a paddling pool or garden pond where there is no wind or depth.
Seriously though we have all seen people going on salt water on these and held our breaths. I have spoken with users on occasions about the dangers and you usually find the owners have no PFD, radio, anchoring system or safety gear at all.
This is where forums like this are so helpful for kayak choice but unfortunately people that by these cheapies just see a bargain.

I sent Aldi an email last Friday about the dangerous way they were being advertised and the true capabilities of them.
No reply as yet.

My first ever trip out involved rescuing a young un about half mile out with the wind blowing offshore and the tide going out full tilt, I only went that far because she was on an inflatable ring with a floor that hadn't been tethered people screaming off the cliffs is what caught my attention. I had words with the mum and dad both non swimmers and then the beach hut that sold it all as ignorant as can be. Big retailers I imagine the same but think I will send one also more the merrier.

Very well done mate. Yes the more mails the better but I bet they have sold out now to loads of unwitting people who will believe the blurb. Hopefully there won't be any incidents. Terry

You better send them.to de,athlon, blacks, go outdoors , towsure cos they all them. Pump ups generally aren't great but if you are paying a couple of hundred quid for one you 'may' be a bit more careful. It's the people buying one at £30 that may not see the risks. At least at sports outlets there 'should' be someone who can offer advice......if asked. Pump ups, lilos, rubber rings and silly dinghy's! The curse of the RNLI's life every Summer.

I think I would go back to my previous statement regarding being on a safety rope. All these items are potentially dangerous but if they are connected to mom or dad it should be fine however the adults must take on the responsibility of using them in a safe manner.
My oldest daughter, Shelly, when she was about 9 or 10 loved being out in my large inflatable but she was too young to take the boat powered by an outboard on her own. I bought her a cheapo which was always linked to me with 50' of rope, she had such fun with that little boat but ALWAYS with me at the other end of a line.
