I heard a story this week that -if it is true - should serve as a warning to all kayakers. Someone was fishing from a kayak and decided to keep some of his catch. He put the fish in a net and hung this over the side of the kayak to keep the catch in the water, a seal was attracted by the fish, came and bit the net and pulled on it dragging the kayak and capsizing it. Please take care on the water. Latif

I have often thought that this could happen and as a result never kept fish over the side in a net like that. Also make certain that clutches are set properly on all reels in case of an accidental hooked up seal , I have had seals snatch fish off my hooks, if one was hooked you would have no time to react, you would be in the drink. Thanks for posting your warning nfoukh.

Another thing to consider when fishing and you are capsized is cutting your fishing line(s) because a string of mackerel feathers is the last thing you want around you when you are trying to get back on your kayak. So have your emergency knife on you when you are on your kayak fishing and lets enjoy the fishing in relative safety. Latif
