i was recently given a couple of kayaks which needed repairs here are the repairs and how i done them in a series of pictures the first one was accidentally ran over by a stacker truck though every thing was still with the kayak no missing plastic a gaping hole had to be repaired by welding it inside and out side first thing to do is pull the split plastic together i used simple screws and wire to achieve this a quick weld on the outside between the wires just to get every thing lined up then out came the screws and wires and a full weld was done using some spare plastic it was welded both inside and outside the final result is a fine kayak ready to use this one had a big hole in it aprox 4.5 inches by 2 using some tin foil and a piece of wood this allowed me to add plastic to the inside by slowly welding it in . once this was done the wood and tinfoil was removed and fully welded from both inside and out side another fine kayak ready for use and fully waterproof

That looks really good Zeb. A real challenge but amazing just how good a repair can be done. To think some of us worry about repairing and old screw hole! Terry

thanks mate that was the reason i put these repairs on last week a man brought a kayak 160 miles to me for a screw hole repair he had removed a scotty mount and wanted the 4 holes filling took all of 5 mins to do it for him but i did feel sorry that he had driven 2.5 hours all the way to me for such a simple repair i just wanted to show how easy it is to weld plastic kayaks

Might be useful to put up a step by step photo by photo tutorial. I know I would find it useful and I bet others would too. It is not just the rigging we need help with but repairing the mistakes too. Terry

I know you and I have spoken about repairs Terry in the past but I agree with Terry (No 2) it would be interesting to people to run a blow by blow on repairs starting with the tools.

Nicely done Terry I would definitely have thought the blue one was beyond salvage. Look forward to the step by step.

Absolutely first class Terry! Not many would take that on then post it up to show how straightforward these repair can be. Another example of you going out your way to help us fools out. Chris
