Iv'e fished it loads from mariners wharf, but not from a yak, it fishes well with some nice sized coddling and whiting being pulled out, it does have a very strong under current and it also has a load of s**t that you spend all your time clearing of your lines. I seriously dont (think) you could fish the mersey from a yak and I (think) if you tried to anchor up you would end up in serious trouble, as zebra said, spud did the liverpool to warrington run, but he followed the tide. fantastic place for fishing at night with all the docks lit up, but all the boy racers hang out there so you have to be on your guard all the time.

Hi Wato
The Mersey is fishable from a Yak on a small tide even then not for the inexperienced. It would have to be done mid week as the best spots get packed with small boats. When i went passed on a Sunday there must have been thirty of them all in a line. The tide still rips even on a small tide. Would not like to anchor among that lot especially if it was to start dragging could end up in real trouble. A better option is New Brighton i will be there quit often after work when we get longer day light hours.
PS If any one wonts to try the Mersey give me a shout.
Regards:- The other George AKA Spud

I've "fished" but not caught, New Brighton from near the Clown -About and the currents here are still quite strong, but manageable. I was shore fishing low tide on Monday which was nearly neap and the pull was still large. I wouldn't find a spell around high - paddle up stream on the flood and come back on the ebb. I wouldn't want to go far out as it really rips, but a couple of hundred yards out should be OK. Oh yes, the fishing at the moment in CAK. 2 of us, 2 rods each, 4 hours, fresh lug, frozen lug, mac, squid - only got 3 crabs and numerous sanitary products.
Once the weather warms up we could have a mini meet.
