Where to fix my rod holder?

Hi I have just bought a rod holder for my kayak but I can't decide where best to position it?
has any one got any advice I thought right at front as it's out of the way but a bit of a distance from my seat, I have also looked at behind me but unsure if reaching behind me is best.
my kayak is obvously not designed for fishing and the sides are sloped I don't know if you can see from my profile pic?

That's how neive I am, I didn't know there was different types.
It's a swivel and then it sort of splits and swings back
