My experience of fishing afloat has been restricted to using a float tube when fly fishing or having been on the odd sea fishing charter boat, however over the past year or so I have started dreaming about fishing from a kayak. I'm due to go on a days safety at sea course on Anglesey soon where the emphasis is on angling, I'm then looking to buy a Galaxy Sturgeon. In the meantime I'm wondering if there is anyone in the Barmouth, Aberdyfi area I could meet up with, I'm not after a "go" on their kayak but an opportunity to look at kit and to help develop a budget. When looking at various websites it appears that my budget of about £1,200 looks pitiful so sound advice gained from experience would be welcome. Any help or advice would be appreciated.[/font]
You can spend as much as you like but my advice would be to keep a look out for excellent second hand packages Kayak anglers often upgrade from superb plastic to glass and some great bargains can be found.
Sure someone will be along shortly from near Barmouth way.
It's a daunting task starting up in this hobby isn't it! :-) I'm just a tiny bit ahead of you :-) This and other forums are great, I've spent hours going through old threads Another good source is Salt Water Kayak Fisherman, the Orange kayak on his vids is now mine :-) You're not far from where some of his Tope videos are filmed Good luck, may see you out there one day this summer :-)
