Well where do I start??
I have the original Galaxy Sturgeon and after my wife decided she wanted to have a go I then purchased an Ocean Kayak Ultra 4.1. You may wonder why I did this, the only real reason was it was lighter and I felt it would be easier for my wife to handle. Obviously I compared them both and although the Ocean was lighter and more nimble through the water it was not as stable for my wife and she was happier on the Sturgeon. This was not good for me as I am a keen angler and the features that came with the Sturgeon as standard are second to none whilst the angler features for the Ocean are at an added cost which was obviously going to be more lay out.
Anyway I have now taken delivery of the 2015 Galaxy Sturgeon and I can honestly say the quality and the improvements that Galaxy have made certainly make this a serious contender against the other leading brands.
It has been well thought out and everything that the angler needs seems to be in the right place. The improvements include a new transducer hole in the hull (no drilling required), easy adjustable foot rests, easy rudder control (yes included as standard), the small centre hatch (which can be used as a live bait well) has a removable tackle box. The front hatch cover has been improved and is now extremely tight (no straps needed). The 2 side pockets have been changed to a rubber type material so no hooks getting caught now. There are probably some improvements I've missed out (sorry).
Well to say I'm happy is an understatent, I've compared the quality to the Ocean and in my opinion there is no difference in the quality but the features that you get as standard with Galaxy are going to make this yak a winner.
I know some people will disagree ( you can't please everyone) but from someone who has tried and tested the Galaxy Sturgeon and the Ocean, guess which one you'll see me out on and I will be proud to turn up at any event with my Galaxy Sturgeon.
