Not long to go till the 2016 Oxwich Bay kayak fishing comp'........ Unfortunately due to other commitments i wont be going, it's a great place to fish : ) So many species available there, you've got to get 14 + if you want any chance of bagging a top prize ! There is a wreck on the right side of the Bay, which will have may species in and around it. Mainwairings is one of the bait suppliers whom deliver to the event, so get your orders in very soon. Remember also you have to bring your SD photos to the weigh in before the end of the comp'. So allow time to paddle back, and the tide will probably be out, so take the trolling up the beach into the account too. Otherwise they wont be counted,as you'll be very disappointed if you've caught a few species. If anyone wants some info' on what bait and rigs just pm me im only too willing to help. It would be great to see a winner from this forum, or even be in the first 10 : )
As fishing with the same rig and same bait throughout the comp' doesn't always work unless your targeting one species...

Dab, Flounder, plaice...gurnard......trigger fish........ pollack......poor cod...pouting.....mackerel.....bass.....mullet ...dogfish......scorpion fish.....tompot blenny.....bull huss......smooth hound......rays........garfish.......bream........tope.......codling........etc That's just 21 species which can be caught, it's going to be a challenge........sort out your rigs, bait's and where your going to fish. You have to move around as the fish won't come to you.............it's like a marathon as time will pass very quickly. Tight Lines to those who are going and stay safe..

Not only for the scenery, the welcome you get there and the barbecue.....it's like an extended family. And you meet some really great people. Something you have to do, even just for one time in your life.

I have managed to find out who the winner of the 2016 Oxwich European kayak fishing competition is.....
He won with 13 species.........
A member of the SWKA "dangler dan".
I have personally relayed my congratulations, and on behalf of the NWKF forum.
Im led to believe the conditions were good but fishing was tough.
