Hi empee,
It's just having time and the weather to be kinder than it has....
If it's the Menai Straits then at the moment there are springs(tides).Just coming off.
The best time would be to fish just before low and after it's turned.
So you dont have to face the full tidal stream.....whirlpools , boils and eddies : )
Hoping to get out mid or even end of this month all being well.

Hi Nala Thanks for that - unless I'm going with someone who knows an area I just go back to what I know - which is Porth Dafarch on Anglesey. Could be heading out with Tom (Teedee) later this week. Tides less of an issue outside the straights (used to moor a sailboat there!) and times looking good for arriving mid morning and fishing the flood this week. (Don't know much about sea fishing but believe the flood is the best time to fish - and there's less distance to carry the yak when finished!)

A bit of a late reply, PC crashed earlier last week and finally got it back just now : ) So far so good it's still working : )
How we rely on these gadgets !
Yes, your absolutely right with the flooding tide, the fish do feed.
And Porthdafarch is Moniar's playground, and it's the first place on Anglesey where the mackerel turn up first on their journey.
Using fresh mackerel as bait you could hook something bigger ; conger, bull huss, smooth hound, tope....have the drag set on your reel..
Usually with the dolphins in hot pursuit, Beeman did a post on there and finished his session enjoying a beer and some BBQ'd mackerel.
There's nothing better..... : )
And it's just great to get out and chill.
I saw the Balmoral coming through the Straits earlier under the Britannia Bridge then via the swellies ! To the St George's pier at Menai Bridge..
