With the beast of an Easterly biting the back of your luggs, then just go West. That's the West side of Anglesey A short shore session which was very enjoyable.....

I have made the return journey to shore fishing again Alan but alas I had sold all my Zziplex beach rods apart from a couple of old 2500 rods. After having a long chat with some old friends of mine who put the idea of continental rods into my head which seemed a very strange move but there again after seeing the replacement cost of my zzippy rods, I went the route of Grauvell Vertix Jack 14' and Unix 15' rods. Talk about a learning curve, the Jacks rods cast one hell of a distance with my Shimano Ultegra 14000 reels with no effort whatsoever. Now these rods can take some welly on the cast but not pendulum casts although you don't need to. They are £300 each but as they are dropped from the 2019 catalogue they are being sold very cheap on ebay so anyone interested in an amazing beach rod, take a look but go for the LC-MT version for bite detection. In the auctions I bought 3 Jacks rods and didn't pay more than £71 for any of them www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Grauvell-Vertix-Jack-420-LC-MT-Rod-14ft-Beachcaster-Surf-Fishing-RRP-289-95/362154258738?hash=item5452137132:g:6HIAAOSwT2daBGCZ:rk:23:pf:0The two Vertix Unix LC-MT rods are not as well made but I paid only £ 36 and £42 each and for the money, they are good rods with very good bite detection but will not cast as far as the Jacks. I feel I have railroaded your thread Alan so sorry about that. I confess to really enjoying getting back into shore fishing and over the next few weeks, I will be installing a tank / filter of some kind in the greenhouse to keep fresh a supply of live shrimp / prawn as they make superb bait either on it's own or tipping off worm for cod and no silly cost as with peeler crab. Nice doggy you have there mate, I am looking forward to a bit of fishing in your neck of the woods early next year. Phil

Hi Phil, I went there a couple of days later and deja vu yet another blanc saving doggie. But, going back to the first session I did get some really cracking bites which scragged the bait. And even cleaned the hook. Fishing a sandy seabed the only thing that could have done that to my bait was bass. Hopefully the next session there is going to be an evening one. I think it'll be more productive Well that's the plan and have a couple of rods out. One bait close in and other further out
