Sorry guys I might be going over old ground here but is this anchor with a small length of chain ok? Apparently it is a kayak anchor and for £3.47 it may be good as a spare? 0.7 kg

I, and a few others use the 1.5kg folding anchor, that one your holding there looks really dinky!! i think a few on here do use the small ones like that.
I use a slightly bigger one just to get it to the bottom a bit quicker, i find that once you have found where you want to fish, be it over a hole or something, by the time you have deployed your anchor you have drifted way off it, so its get the paddle out and try again ;D ;D
Its all trial and error, you have got to get out there and see how it performs, i know rzaskar used a brick in a bag at one meet and that worked a treat ;D ;D

Yeh the brick in a bag worked brilliant but i now use a 1.5kg anchor(just so i look the part not because it any better). Anything could be used really mite try the mother in law next time i go out ;D ;D ;D

I bought a sand anchor - a variation on the brick in a bag theme and it worked a treat at the Cemlyn bay meet. I had it too full of sand n' gravel, but could have dumped out a lot of stones. Easy to deploy and retrieve and cannot damage your Yak.
