Not a clue me ole fruit , when beach fishing for dabs and plaice i used a lot of colored beads and sequins on a single hook rig, compared to not using them my catch was always better for the Christmas decks. Ive a couple of packs of metal spoons in my bottom draw but haven't used them, let me know how you get on. Tight lines Bassy John ;D ;D ;D

Maddies should be great behind one of those spoons! I used to take the p**S out of people using spoons, but I soon realised that they work for Plaice and Flounder alike! Another tip, is to tip the bait with a small triangle of mackerel or squid, now this is important! The widest part of the fishbait needs to be no wider than 5mm and no longer than 3cm. A delicate procedure but worth it! Another tip is to wind in every few minutes as flounders respond to movement. I have caught a flounder on a Rapala that was skimming the bottom, and intended for Bass!! Good luck!

Hi Bassy, Having being born and bought up in Dolgellau I used to fish at Penmaenpool regular with spoons. I used to us a plastic table spoon (white, sprayed with red stripes) to catch flounder. Next time I go to my Mums i'll see if I can find one and i'll post a photo. They where the one way to catch good sized fish.
Cheers
Tim

we used to tie a piece of red wool around the shank of the hook near the eye about 2 inches long .

Sorry you had a poor session!, As for the measurements of the tipped bait, they don't have to be exact, just don't engulf the hook with fish bait as I often see people do. Look at the size of the squid slivers below. These are big enough. Hook them once through the widest part so that it flows as natural as possible. Just a small tippet is enough! Look at these............. And look what they do....... A small tippet of mackerel or squid can make a difference, and I'm sure a nimble fingered lady like you can entice a flounder or two!
