Dave I can appreciate what you are saying about gaining comfort mentally. When I first started out (only last year) I wore a pfd along with a flotation suit. ;D Once you get your confidence and experience you will find that you are far less likely to take a dunking. Keep us up to speed with how you are getting on mate and thanks again for your valued input. Chris

Storage still seems to be a bit of an issue. Buddy (Steve) wears a hi vis top with pockets in underneath the life jacket. I still think that a pocket of sorts could be Velcro'd onto the back of the front arms without compromising the efficiency of the life jacket.

To me that sounds very practical Steve. I know Parmaris provided us with a suggestion on how we could attach our Vhf and Terry will add this on when he can. Chris

Chris To fasten something to the jacket could be potentially dangerous. If you fasten a radio and the jacket inflates. The speed and force of inflating could throw the radio away from the jacket damaging the jacket or the person wearing it. Safest is either a seperate jacket with pockets like mine or a belt to clip items to. Hope this helps. Steve

Surely the bit of the jacket that is against your body, namely the back of the front arms, which is the bit that the pocket would be velcro'd to, would not be effected on inflation, it would stay in position. I wouldn't suggest putting anything other then a VHF in the pocket. A knife could be strapped onto a leg or arm. I will try and seek some professional advise on this.

Right then, Today I have spoken to Graham from cheap life jackets, and asked for his opinion on fitting a pocket at the front of the life jacket, This was his reply: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We can in fact make and attach a purpose built pocket on the front of the jacket for a hand held radio which we have done many times in the past, all we need is the actual radio sizes and we custom make and attach the pocket.........simple There will of course be an extra charge but the system works perfectly. I will forward you an e mail from one of my customers who ordered this extra along with the diagram of the radio he wanted the pocket for and if you have any further question please feel free to call me anytime on 07973 821064 Thanks Graham This is the message from the customer Graham spoke of. Hi Graham Thanks for the chat we had yesterday it was most helpful. As discussed I would like to order a Pro Classic Automatic with harness and crutch strap. I would also like a factory fitted hood and a light. I attach a drawing of my radio for the radio pocket. Is there a small loop to hold the aerial down or just a pocket? If the addition of a loop is extra I would still like one please. Thanks again for your help and could you pass on my thanks to the guy at Parmaris. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was a very basic picture with dimensions of the radio. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Should you want a life jacket with any special fittings or additions, cheap life jackets can do it for you. And if you would like any further information just ring Graham on the above phone number, or contact him through his web site. www.cheaplifejackets.co.uk/Steve
