went out yesterday at prestatyn sailing club, fished three hours up to high, had a bite every drop, whiting and dabs until I ran out of bait.quite a few undersize fish but had a dozen keepers.quite a good venue for a meet I would have thought, with a good variety of fish available in summer, good car parking and good accesibility to the beach, although yesterday was a tiny tide and I am told there is a fierce tide race on the big tides.

Tide Race is same all along that section of coast. Prevailing wind is westerly and current on a bigger tide is around 2-3kts. South winds (rare) will push you offshore but everything else will always leave you the easy option of returning to shore. Beware of sandbanks to the North and East, especially on the start of flood. They get turbulent as the flood covers them. On a decent weekend or summer day the sailing club will have maybe 10 power boats on the fishing areas also jetskis. The club operates an inshore slow down policy, but from 100 yards of the water edge there will be boats and skis tearing around.

fortunately,I have the option of time off in the week,so shouldnt have to much grief off the jet skis,as it happens there were three out yesterday but to be fair they gave me a wide berth.is it quite safe, and will I be able to hold anchor on the big tides there,as I am told it fishes best for bass and smoothies on the bigger tides?I dont want to trip anchor and end up in queensferry
