I had to share this with you. Hopefully I can manage to insert the image ok This was Gareths first ever Pike. A 15lb'er, caught on the upper reaches of the River Wensum in Norfolk. It fell to a large surface lure. As the advert says:- rod - £30; reel - £20; rod license - £24; the grin on his face - priceless.

Belter!! Now you have a job on your hands to match it Gareth......there will be plenty of smaller ones before you get a bigger one I expect.
Talking of Pike - anyone up for a go on Bala? The wind is getting up again - and I have just had a phone call to send me to work......b**ger. Scotland on Monday too, so thats this weekend gone out the window.

Dorado I'm up for Pike fishing in Bala. I fancy camping at Glanllyn, which apparantly has a launch jetty and beach and is down the far end away from the cafe; where the large reed beds are!!!! John

Sounds like we ought to try and get a pike meet up and running then. I will get in touch with my contacts and find out when a good time would be - I think October will be favourite. Might go for a recce one day before then. Bala is a good place for Anna to get her paddling fitness back again - she hasn't paddled for the best part of year because of her shoulder injury. I want to get her out in the double before too long.

The other option is Coniston - plenty of pike and perch showing there. Spoke to Nifty on the way home from Scotland - he had a good half dozen witht he best at around 20lbs. Campsite right on the water too. Whichever - they are both as far - Bala will be quieter though.
