Finally got out this afternoon at Cable Bay / Porth Trecastell on Anglesey. Weather westerley 10-15mph with a bit of a swell so kept into the bay area. First view would be fit bungs in self drain holes as will have a constant inch of water in the footwell without. The kayak tracks well and road the surf well with good straight line speed and excellent stability. Had great fun riding the surf back into the beach! Althought no strong tides at the time manoeuvreability seems really good. Only did a spot of trawling as checking things out such as fishfinder etc. will continue posts and photos as kit goes on board.

Nice to see you got out and had some fun. A lot of kayaks carry a bit of water in the foot wells ie- prowlers. Its not recommended to fit bungs when out on the sea especially if playing in the surf or out in choppy conditions. If a wave swamps the kayak it adds loads of weight and makes it difficult to handle. Then you have to start messing about removing the bungs to drain the kayak. Be careful and stay safe. Steve.

Hi linsair. The rod holder looks good. Did you fit a backing plate? The reason i am aking is if you have a rod in the holder and a big fish strikes it could pull the holder complete with screws from the kayak. If you have only put small washers inside the yak a sudden jolt on the holder could split the plastic. A backing plate of the same size as the fitting makes a vast amount of difference. If you need any plastic pieces PM me and i will send you some. Steve
