Hi guys how goes? Just wondered if any of you towbar experts had any idea about towbar weights. i.e How heavy towbars are roughly? Found one on ebay of someone selling a passat Tbar but said it was 85kg so I can arrange for a courier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking he must be talking about the nose weight as opposed to the actualy weight. I know parcelforce has a limit of 30kgs and wondering if it'll be less than that. I've emailed the guy to get him to see if he can tell me but in the meantime I'd sure like to Buy it now before it gets snapped up. Any ideas guys on this subject?

Hi Mr T,it won't be the weight of the tow bar otherwise the back bumper would be on the floor, maybe the weight is 8.5kg. Nose weight and kerb weight are governed by the make of car e.g. 4x4 has bigger springs so can take a higher nose and kerb weight but the actual towbar fitted would not be much different in weight.

Definitely sounds like a nose weight - but that would also depend on the car - our car has an 85kg nose weight limit therefore a tow bar designed to fit our car would be rated for at least that weight. We have a removable 'swan neck' ball which must weigh 2 or 3 kilos - don't know how much the rest of the bracket beneath the car would weigh but certainly not 85kilos! martin

Thanks chaps for that. Got it sorted out now. Still not sure how heavy it is but must be under 30kgs I'm thinking as he is willing to post it now royal mail after phoning the towbar manufacture folk. Got it for £50 including electrics and post. ;D ;D ;D Now time to look out for a nice wee trailer for the kayaks to modify.
