One piece of first aid equipment that is an absolute must, is a pair of 'Tuff Cut' Scissors! These are cheap, and cut through wet suits, dry suits, biker leather, bandages, tape, rope, and even sheet aluminum! You can have them close to hand in a holster, you never know when you might need them in a hurry! Handy piece of kit, not just for first aid. Ask any paramedic!

It appears that I am the only medical doctor on the forum. That's good, nobody 's gona argue with me :-))))) The above mentioned first aid kit is completely adequate. I would add in mine Savlons spray or gel for cuts and grazes: www.savlon.co.uk/ and some eyewash liquid.

As the phrase says - FIRST aid. Gels and creams will wash or rinse off. If you get it on your paddle it could make things difficult as regards paddling. The idea is to sort the casualty out until proper medical assistance can be sought( if needed) What if the casualty has an allergic reaction to the spray or cream you apply. You instantly make things worse. I am not a doctor just careful

I have to agree with buddy that is why NO Creams, Gels, Sprays or Tablets are supplied with a proper First Aid kit and they are even turning there nose at antiseptic wipes. I have experience of this from being dedicated site first aider (ticket runs out soon another course of watching peoples body's opened up) and the green 50man and 100man kits we have contain only Dressings, Triangle bandages, Waterproof plasters eye pads and Alcohol Free Wipes. I think this is perfectly adequate to provide initial treatment to any injury on site. However the site I am on is Heartlands Hospital so if they injure themselves not far to take them lol
