That is exactly what I thought....then I tried on that my mate had at work and I thought 'Hmm. It's not bad.' Then he told me you don't HAVE to buy books from Amazon....Torrents will fulfill all your needs. I see.....books for free and a nice gadget to read them on, I was hooked. I gave Tesco £89 and an hour on the laptop ...I was sorted! I have to say I am impressed and in less than a week I have read Mud,Sweat and Tears, plus two other books and I have several thousand others in reserve. It is easy to read, is nice to hold and the battery lasts for ages and can be charged via usb from the pc. Highly recommended only negative is I have not managed to download any books on fishing or kayaks

Interesting. They do look tempting because of the cost but ive resisted so far.
All my family seem to be into their ipads and i did find it great talking to and being able to see my brother and his kids in S. Wales. I think that would be the route id go.
Maybe if i wait long enough they will get cheaper.

The great things with the Kindle are: Book sized, fits in coat pocket. Very light. Battery lasts forever. Grey page and dark grey text very very easy on the eye.
They do what it says on the box, nothing more and nothing less but they do it exceptionally well. If you are a reader then they are great.
Reading on an iPad is black on a bright white page....tireing and all that white drains the battery. iPad does what it is supposed to do well ( if you don't mind being caught in the[expensive] Apple trap,) but it is not made for books ...wait as long as you like Ian they won't get cheaper, look at the iPhone.
