It really brings home the effect of cold water. I would like all newbies to see this before they go out. In most cases people buy the kayak and all the bits but then we hear time after time that the newbie will have to save up for a drysuit but in the meantime---will a floatation suit or a summer wetsuit or waders do as they can't afford to buy the drysuit yet. I got turfed in during Jan 11 with a fleece undersuit and the drysuit on, no problem but my head obviously got wet as I went in and although there was no problem, I could hardly breath because of the cold water hitting my head. Now I was fine in a couple of minutes but I would not have stood a chance without the drysuit. People simply do not realize just how crippling the cold water is. Phil
