Just after your tips and advice on anchoring please guys...
I've installed a garmin 150 echo and anchor trolley from the guides online (worked perfectly - many thanks)
Now just need to know the best way in which to use the anchor etc
Thanks again

sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to teach you to suck eggs but go out with someone that has anchored up and see how you get on,it's not as bad as you might think but it's worth doing it without all your kit on board and have a play anchoring and retrieving to see how your kayak and you find it. have fun but be safe

Lee,
What Daz says is true, seeing it done is better than reading a dozen articles. Get it wrong and you the WILL get wet!
If you have to practice on your own then do it in a sheltered bay or even still water. Deploying the anchor is important but retrieving can be even more as dangerous. Always retrieve with the trolley set and locked either at the stern or bows NEVER near cockpit this could set you broadside onto the waves with the cockpit edge dipping, a recipe for a soaking.
It is a complex subject I anchor from the stern with a quick release setup. Others always anchor bows on, some never use quick release, some use chain some don't, some use bungee as a shock absorber, it's very confusing. You need to see at least one of these in action, more if possible and then find the one that suits you, your boat and your style of fishing.
Sorry that is not much help and has probably confused you even more.....
Terry
