Watcha all, new as I am to this kayaking, am heading for a hopefully terpid and benevolent lake to practice bailing out and getting back in. Consequently I've been scouring the site for pictorial examples of best ways to achieve 're-entry'. Whilst doing so I came across a 'reentry ladder' on utube. This consists of a line attached in tis example to one carrying handle. The line forms a 'step' with what looks like a piece of alcathene pipe. So you have a line forming a triangle at the bottom where it is threaded through the pipe. If the boat turns over, paddler rights the boat and then placing foot in to the 'step' reaches to the other side of the boat and 'steps' in. I'll do my best to make an attachment but failing that will make one and send photos' www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRd1ha2rE0A

Tikka mate,
I think there are various bits of kit you can use for self rescue but to be honest you don't need them.
A good self rescue style and practice will be much better than trying to deploy rope ladders. It is all extra clutter to get in the way.
Standard self rescue has done the job for many many people, try it a few times before you spend your hard earn pennies on gimmicks.

Am sure your'e right, just seemed a clever and dirt cheap to make bit of kit. Have seen some folk struggle to raise their bodies out of a swimming pool so anything that might assist in more challenging enviroments might be worth a mention. Suppose it's simply a stirrup to re mount. All best Chris
