Hello chaps You are in the right place for sound advice as some of our members are very experienced in that region and I am certain they will respond to you soon. I am on the east coast so I cannot recommend anything for that particular patch however in most areas that I have fished, a flowing trace has done the job.
A short length of 60-80lb mono ( 300mm ) with a swivel at the bottom and a Gemini rig clip at the top. Place a bead next to the swivel knot with another swivel/lead clip above the bead. To the bottom swivel add 1m of 25lb mono hook length with the pennel hooks of your choice, I use vikings 1/0, 2/0 & 4/0
This is as simple as it gets and works very well. If you are after bass, use fluocarbon hook length.
I have now added a tiny bait clip next to the mainline for when I need to cast uptide but that is up to you. Hope that helps.
Phil

Hi, My partner & I live near Prestatyn, we go down the Llyn Penninsular to Porth Ysgaden & Porth Iago as they are both really good for fishing, kayaking and parking is close enough so launching is easy

Croeso/Welcome to the forum...........love the idea of Lleyn Peninsular......maybe a trip there could be arranged.....i'll have to check the diary. The forum has a vast amount of knowledge and experience....which i feel is priceless. And,it's great to actually fish and meet other like minded anglers...

Nice to hear from another from Skelmersdale. I am interested in your opinion of Ainsdale,Birkdale and Southport. Neither hardly ever gets a mention. It's one fault is a long walk to the low mark. On the plus side there are several parallel gullies relative to the sea - quite useful I read to feeding fish.
