I brought my C-Tug second hand and did not have the original strap so cannot comment on how good it is. So I had to think about what I was going to use. I wanted a cam strap first and foremost but I did not want the single strap through both supports. It was going to have to be a strap in two pieces then but how to fasten them. Simple I thought and I guess many have done it before and I have just not seen it. I measured the length I wanted on each support and got a bradawl out. I pushed it through the weave rather than cutting the weave. I then threaded a penny washer onto a bolt and pushed the bolt through the hole. This was followed by a washer and bolt on the other side of the strap. Very simple and strong. As I use mine almost exclusively on freshwater zinc plated fasteners suffice but for saltwater stainless will be a must. Also make sure the bolt goes from the inside to out so as to avoid any chance of damaging the kayak.
