Hi all, I have recently purchased a second hand prowler 13 ( old style ), when I was viewing it before I parted with my hard earned, I noticed that the hatch seal was flattened in a couple of areas, I have since replaced the damaged seal with new stuff, but I think it would be a good idea when any kayak is not in use, is to release the hatch to allow the seal to 'relax' this way it will maintain its 'flexibility', just as you would release the clutch on a fishing reel. regards, Kev.

thats good advice kev a few people replaced the straps on the front hatch with bungee to try to get a similar effect but completly opening the retainers would be a better idea another thing many of the guys done with the rubbber seals is smear a little vqasaline on them this stops them drying out and keeps them supple
