If you have lovely clear water, lures are the way to go. There are so many to choose from it is tricky for me to advise so it is something perhaps you could look into from a local guy or the best tackle shop in the area. You can cast the lure, set the rod in a holder and gently paddle, this is how many guys fish lures, trolling. Again local info is what you need as the best lures could be soft plastic shads or floating rapalas or deep diving crankbait or a mixture of all of them.
Sorry to sound vague but local knowledge is the key factor here. It is worth picking up a Veals mail order brochure because they have a good range of lures that work in the South West and perhaps a phone call to the shop in Bristol where there is sound knowledge and feed back. I used to visit the shop while on business in the area, great guys to talk to for guidance.
If you like a bit of fly fishing, you have what must be regarded as prime area for bass and the fly is very successful. Check out 'Salt Water Fly Fishing ' site for more information and some area knowledge.

You could send a PM to ' bassnasty aka David ' or indeed to Zebra as they both fish that area and know it well.
