I hope the photographs I've added work. I'm planning to buy a Galaxy Sturgeon immediately after I have completed a safety at sea course, what do you experts think of this kayak. I've read very good reviews but would like genuine users of the kayak yo comment. Thank you

I own one and love it. I went to a safety course on Saturday with Simon Everett and there were 5 others there. I expected to be ridiculed all day but they all thought it was a great kayak for the money. Even Simon said it looked good. It has good stability to it and it's still pretty fast through the water.
The only negative comments about it have come from people who have never seen one. Everyone I know who has one or has paddled one thinks it's great.
Only two niggles and that's the anchor well in the back acts as a bowl and just fills with water and I personally didn't find the rudder controls great but I have sorted that now. (Others don't seem to have a problem with them)

No drain in the anchor well seems a bit dodgy! I wouldn't have thought that was good for stability if there are some decent waves about..... Just checked my elderly Big Game and it has two
It looks great, although I like the idea of a nice bright orange or red one to catch the eye of my would be rescuers..... :-)

The tankwell itself has two scuppers to allow for drainage but within the tankwell is a moulded recess for an anchor. It is this recess that fills up. Probably only about 1-2 litres of water. Doesn't affect stability. They come in Orange too.

Thanks. I went with the Orange for the same reason that I wanted to be seen if I needed rescuing.

No I added the straps myself after hearing a few tales from people with triumphs etc losing their hatches on the roads. It also acts as somewhere to slide my paddle under quickly too.

i had a perception 13 for a couple of years and never had an issue with the front hatch. In fact it was a bugger to get off .. and on.

My hatch is tight and snug and hopefully they will never do anything. But I would rather be safe than sorry.

For stiff lids a spray of WD40 helps a lot.
