Is anyone going down from the North West? I'm very tempted. I've been sorting out my bivvie and bedchair this weekend, all the camping kit for trips to Anglesey so I'm ready to rumble..... I'm thinking it could kickstart my season and I'll learn a lot Only ever caught a couple of black bream, from a pier on the Isle of Wight. I've got a week to research how to catch more :-) I'm guessing that swim feeder and maggots under the far bank might not be the hot ticket..... I've still got problems with my shoulders but I'm starting Physio soon and anyway, wth, they need working. I've been speaking with Neil (Gilly) and his enthusiasm for the sport is infectious!

After some umming and arring I was going but I ended up leaving my kayak at my caravan yesterday cos I got a call out in the morning and had to floor it home. I'll be going Esthwaite though and its not as far to drive I'm assuming you'll be going there Terry?

I'm a lot closer to being sorted now. Last minute bits ordered from eBay with fingers crossed they arrive in time. Might go down Thursday and have a paddle and practise dangle on Friday It's a species competition so I need to catch a bream, then a doggie and or a ray, maybe drag a flattie rig I guess...... Then head to a rock pool with a tiny hook for a blennie, whilst sat in a beached kayak..... ? :-)

Thanks Gilly.
Martin,
Wind forecasts are not great but I am assured there will be shelter. Just in case you haven't seen my post 'elsewhere'. Use Broad Road Swanage for sat nav. You have to pay for the carpark by phone. The app is Phone and Pay. Car park number is 5950. It's easier to set it all up before you get there and then just pay when you are there.

I'd start drift fishing hokkais baited with squid and a spreader boom baited with worm. Your gonna pick up a lot of species quite quickly that way. Then anchor up for dogs and the ray species. Then I'd start looking at going for particular species once everyones done the donkey work in regards to where such and such is coming out.

Thanks Shaun :-) I'll take all that on board, plus I have a few sabiki rigs to tip with squid to, for any mini species about, although mackerel and launce don't count.
....but I like mackerel..... :-)
I'll have three made up rods, and I'm hoping to pick up a few tips on the Friday
But it's all down to the weather gods now, I'll make a decision about going on Thursday
